Gourmet Organic Stuffing - Celery & Sage Stuffing
Stuffing Ingredients
This gourmet stuffing recipe calls for organic fresh ingredients , but you can substitute everything for non-organic.
- 2 heads of organic celery
- 1 organic medium onion
- 1 loaf of organic sliced bread . Whole Wheat or White.
- 2 sticks of organic butter
- 1/4 cup of organic olive oil . Or extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tsp of ground sage
- 1/2 Tsp of ground thyme
- organic sea salt to taste.
Stuffing Preparation:
In large pot , melt the butter on medium heat & add the olive oil to it.
While the butter is melting chop the onion into 1/4 inch squares , and add to the butter & oil. Let the onions saute on low heat.
While the onions are sauteing slice the celery into thin half moon slices ,
that is horizontally. Cutting the wide lower part of each stalk into half to keep an even size.
Add the celery to the butter & onions , add the sage, thyme and salt, mix everything with a wooden spatula, cover and cook on low heat to get the juices from the onion and celery to blend with the sage and thyme.
Take the bread and cut each slice into 1/2" squares .
Check on the celery if already tender (do not overcook) and you are ready to serve , add the bread to the celery and mix thoroughly until all the bread has been coated with the juices and everything mixed. Serve and enjoy.
Tip: If you feel the stuffing recipe calls for too much butter, you can substitute it for 1 stick of butter and 1/2 a cup of olive oil.
Tip: You can pre-cook the mixture and refrigerate until ready. Then heat it in a large pot & add the bread when it is hot, and serve. It really is an easy stuffing.
Tip: You can cut the bread a day before and store in a zip lock or tight lidded tupperware until ready.
